Summer Camps

Chinese Summer School Program 1 (age 10 & up)

Silk Road Center offers a two week Chinese Program for age 10 and up, led by Mrs. Doris Early, a private school teacher of Chinese Language.  Mrs. Doris Early, a native Mandarin speaker, was born in Taiwan, did her college work in the US, and did her first teaching experience while on sabbatical at Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology in Qingdao, China. Upon returning from China, Mrs. Doris Early was invited to teach Mandarin at the Wheeler School in Providence RI.  She has taught middle school students Mandarin for the last ten years with a focus on the understanding the Chinese language through its rich culture. 

Program Schedule and Tuition:

8/2 – 8/13 (10 days)    Time:  8:30 AM – 11:30 AM.  

$10.00 non refundable registration fee 

$150 tuition fee for the whole program including study materials

Course Descriptions:

The 1st class is about expectation and introduction. Student language skills are assessed and then are grouped by level and age. Level 1 and Level 2 are being offered in this program. In Level 1 & Level 2, students are introduced to Pinyin, Chinese characters, listening and conversation, as well as Chinese culture. Students will utilize the computer lab for learning and practicing between classes.  Culture activities will also be provided through out the program. 

暑期中文班 (年龄10岁以上)

敦煌文化服务中心开设为期两周的暑期中文班，招生对象为十岁以上， 由私立学校的中文老师丁老师 (Mrs. Doris Early) 任教。丁老师出生于台湾， 其母语为中文，在美国接受教育。她利用休假远赴中国青岛化工学院开始她的第一份教学工作。从中国回美后，受聘于罗德岛著名私立学校 Wheeler School里的中学教中文，至今已有十余年了。丁老师擅于结合丰富的中国文化来传授语言。

时间与学费：

八月二号至八月十三号， 为期10天。每天早上 8：30 至11：30。

注册费＄10.00；学费 ＄150.00 包括了学习材料费。

课程大纲：

第一堂课将按照学生的水平和年龄分初级和中级班。初级和中级班都学汉语拼音和学汉字（简体字）书写。学生还通过电脑视听进行听力和会话训练。文化活动贯穿整个教学课程。

Chinese Summer School Program 2 (age 5 & up)

Silk Road Center offers a one week Chinese Program for age 5 and up, led by Mrs. Ruiqing Lei, a preschool teacher.  Mrs. Lei, a native Chinese speaker, was born in Taishan, Guangdong, has a teaching degree from China and a teaching certificate from US. She has 7 years of teaching experience with children. Also she has been teaching Chinese language to young children for over 3 years. With Mrs. Lei’s Chinese background and experience with Children, it will be a fun and educational week!

8/16 – 8/20 (5 days)    Time:  8:30 AM – 3:00 PM.  

$10.00 non refundable registration fee 

$150 tuition fee for the whole program including study materials

Course Descriptions:

Students will be introduced to basic Chinese reading, listening, speaking and writing, as well as various cultural activities. Students will also utilize the computer lab for learning and practicing between classes. 

暑期中文班 (年龄 5岁以上)

     敦煌文化服务中心开设为期一周的暑期中文班，招生对象为五岁以上， 由Cranston 幼儿教师雷瑞清任教 (Mrs. Ruiqing Lei) 。雷老师出生于广东台山，其母语为中文并毕业于国内的师范大学，来美前已在台城任教多年。来美后再到大学进修并拿到教师证书，受聘于Cranston Head Start，同时她私办中文班，教小孩学中文三年多。雷老师丰富的教学经验会给孩子们带来生动有趣的一周。

时间与学费：

八月十六号至八月二十号，为期五天。每天早上 8：30 至下午3：00。

注册费＄10.00；学费 ＄150.00 包括了学习材料费。

将为学生介绍最基本的中文读，听，说，写，并培养学生学习中文的兴趣。中国特色的文化活动贯穿整个教学课程。学生还通过电脑视听进行听力和会话训练。
